The Simpson’s Movie and Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Author: Adi cohen

Water is one of the most important and valuable resources on the planet and affects almost all our daily activities. For this reason, industrial wastewater treatment is an issue of utmost importance and has gained increasing popularity in recent years. The plot of the Simpson’s Movie, one of most popular shows on Television, was based on the premise that the main body of water in their town of Springfield has become polluted and they must clean it up. Following the clean up, Homer deposits additional ‘toxic waste’ into the water causing the whole of Springfield to be quarantined and general hilarity ensues. The reality of Industrial wastewater does not have as humorous a slant. Countries in the Middle East, whose natural water supply is scarce as is, must carefully monitor their usage and try to decrease the waste of their most limited resource. Water pollution often occurs in industrial and commercial activities that release pollutants as part of their processes. It is vital that companies pursue industrial wastewater treatments to allow the reuse and recycling of water and avoid unnecessary waste. Industrial wastewater is the water that has been contaminated by industrial activities. Many large industries in the world including oil storage farms, marine ports, reservoirs, and Storage tanks produce industrial wastewater as a by product of their activities. Many companies in developed countries have becomes increasingly aware of the negative consequences of industrial water and are actively seeking treatments to combat the waste.   There are a variety of industrial wastewater treatments including sedimentation, skimming devices, or trickling filters. However, these approaches can often require a high fixed cost for the installation of complex machinery. One of the most exciting and cost effective industrial wastewater treatments is a new technology involving the application of a ‘bacteria cocktail’ that performs biodegradation, breaking down the materials by a physiological environment. These types of innovations are the key to decreasing a company’s water usage and preserving this limited resource to ensure its availability for future generations. Interesting?
