The Nollywood as it is today owes gratitude to certain hard-working artistes that shaped it and Kate Henshaw-Nuttall is certainly one of them. With her first role as Onome in “When the sun sets” Kate remains a senior sister in the Nollywood family.

This ever smiling actress from Henshaw town in Cross-River State is famed for humility and respect for all without discrimination. She means different things to different people and represents a generation of Nigerian movies artistes with absolute good relationship with her audience as she is ever willing to touch the lives of all in one way or the other. Indeed those who are close to her can tell that she has always been the plain type thus contrasting the typical attitudes of some of her colleagues who have been made haughty by wealth and fame. This many will want to attribute to her humble background and beginning.

It was a humble beginning that prepared and shaped her life. Born to a ticketing Agent father with Pan American Airline, Kate grew up in Moshalashi part of Mushin in Lagos. She did her first television commercial for Shield Deodorant in 1994, some modeling jobs and also worked as a runaway model.

She means well for Nollywood, an industry that launched her to limelight but she has always wished that the industry move out of its baby state to a mature one. Kate has demonstrated herself to be a very fine character that can fit into other excellent beautiful roles in and out Nollywood. Kate believes that the Nollywood of today has not stepped into the world stage but there is room for improvement because the industry is blessed with talents that can make a change for good.

Her natural love and care for people have always made her dream of becoming a doctor so that she could care for people and make them feel better but the will of God proved otherwise for her as she is today one of Nigeria’s most celebrated movies stars. That Kate has never done a nude scene demonstrates the quintessential nature of her disciplined background that makes her appealing to people. It is one criterion that has made her differentiate love scenes from nude scenes.

Many will remember her humble nature which she displayed when she featured in Frank Edoho’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” programme organized by MTN Nigeria Ltd alongside Pa Akinkunmi. Kate demonstrated to the world that she was also intelligent and enlightened as she brilliantly supplied answers to the questions advanced to her.

Her simplistic nature and ability to effectively interpreter her roles make her easy to work with on stage. Her personality has also managed to keep her away from controversies and negative stories which is why everyone wants to see her on screen putting smiles on the faces of her teeming admirers. If she continues with this combined with hard-work and blessed achievements, a National Merit Award will become closer to her. Moreso, she could be looking forward to heading her state’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism in a short time.
